IPTG (Isopropyl-ß-D-Thiogalactoside)

DESCRIPTION
IPTG (isopropyl ß-D-thiogalactopyranoside) is a galactose analogue which can not be cleaved by ß-galactosidase. It acts as an inducer of the lac operon by binding and inactivating the lac repressor. IPTG is soluble in water and in ethanol.
