DESCRIPTION
Isolated from a recombinant E. coli strain this DNA-dependent RNA polymerase is strictly specific for its promoter. It is used to transcribe RNA from DNA templates, cloned into vectors containing SP6 promoter, to generate high specific activity labeled RNA probes, RNA for in vitro translation, biologically active mRNA and/or preparative quantities of defined length RNA by run off transcription.

UNIT DEFINITION
One unit is the amount of enzyme that incorporates 1 nmol of labelled nucleoside triphosphates into acid-precipitable RNA in 60 minutes at 37°C.

20 mM Tris-HCl pH 7.5; 100 mM NaCl; 0,1 mM EDTA; 2 mM DTT; 0,1 mg/ml BSA; 50% glycerol (v/v)

STORAGE TEMPERATURE
Store SP6 RNA polymerase below 0ºC, preferably at -20ºC, in a constant temperature freezer.
